13/11/16 - Samantha Jade and Cyrus Villanueva being interviewed for the website "DailyTelegraph.com.au"

Samantha Jade enlists fellow "The X Factor Australia" winner Cyrus Villanueva for love duet.

Samantha Jade wanted to make an old-fashioned love duet and enlisted fellow "The X Factor Australia" winner Cyrus Villanueva to be her guy.

The power-lunged singer and actress said she was looking for a male artist who could share the song rather than be a “featuring” guest, which has become the dominant pop trend.

"Hurt Anymore" chronicles the end of a relationship and Jade said she wanted to represent both sides of the story:

“I think there’s this perception that women hurt more at the end of a relationship; we get together have a wine and a cry about it”, she said, “But men hurt too, just as much and i love how vulnerable Cyrus sounds on this.”

Jade and her good friend Guy Sebastian have rallied behind Villanueva as he works on his post-win record which will be released early next year.

The 20-year-old joked he was the perfect candidate for the heartbreak ballad because “I’m a sucker for crying on camera”:

“I definitely forgotten how many times i cried during the show and i’m not ashamed to be real about emotions”, he said, laughing, "This song is such a great way to be reintroduced to people before i come out with my own music next year.”

Jade agrees the power ballad is back since The Veronicas hit the top of the charts with their comeback single "You Ruin Me".

Sebastian is racing up the charts with "Set In Stone", a love song for his wife Jules:

“I’ve got up tempo songs i love, but i haven’t put out a big moment song in a really long time, not since "Soldier" a few years ago”, she said.

The two "The X Factor Australia" winners will launch the single on the show on monday night and embark on the kind of old school acoustic tour favoured by singer songwriters.

With just piano and their voices, they will perform "Hurt Anymore" and some secret covers at afternoon gigs at unexpected venues such as Sydney’s "Opera" bar in the next week:

“We thought it would be cool to do something different. For me there is nothing i love more than singing along as someone is playing the guitar or piano and that’s the bread and butter of what we do as singers”, Jade said.

Run Geelong event 2016: Samantha Jade chats all things career and fitness ahead of her performance.

This year’s Run Geelong experience is set to be bigger and better than ever with the launch of a new finish line entertainment precinct headlined by "ARIA Music Award" winner Samantha Jade.

The "Addy Gossip Girls" caught up with the singer, songwriter and actor ahead of her live waterfront performance.

You’ll be in town for this year’s Run Geelong, have you spent much time in the region before?

Yes i’m so excited. I’ve only been there once or twice before and the people are always so lovely and welcoming.

What first drew you to the event?

I have done a few "Cotton On Run" shows and have enjoyed them all, so i was delighted to be asked back.

Do you consider yourself to be much of a runner?

I do a lot of running around on stage, haha.

What is your preferred form of exercise?

I love dancing and minimal exercise. I can’t say i’ve ever enjoyed the gym.

What is your pre-workout meal of choice?

Just chicken and veggies and a lot of water.

Which songs or artists make up your ultimate exercise playlist?

Beyonce! Beyonce! Beyonce!

Do you plan on cheering on some of the Run Geelong competitors?

Of course. I love seeing people give it their all, especially for such a great cause.

Do you have a message for the participants?

Good luck everyone and enjoy yourselves.

What can audiences expect from your set at the event?

It’s high energy and lots of fun. I love getting them up to dance so we might even hold a dance competition.

Do you have any pre-show rituals?

Not really. I always take a second to make sure i’m grateful for being able to perform for a crowd.

How are the album preparations going?

It’s going well. I’ve been writing in London and it’s so inspiring there. It’s quite different because i have always made my records in LA or Australia, so it’s a different vibe and i’m very excited about it.

This week, you released your new song "Hurt Anymore" in collaboration with Cyrus Villanueva, tell us a bit about the track.

I know, i’m so excited. It’s actually a sad song — it’s about when you know you’re not in love anymore and the relationship is ruining you, so it’s time to get out.

More recently you have been branching out into some acting roles, do you have a preference when it comes to performing live or on screen?

I love them both. Singing is obviously my first love, but the more roles i take on, the more i love acting.

Tell us a bit about your new role in the upcoming series "House Of Bond".

It’s a very small role, but it’s been so much fun to play and be a part of such a great show.

What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?

My mum always told me to be grateful for what you have, because there will always be a time that life will test you and you’ll need to remember that.

01/11/16 - Samantha Jade being interviewed on 9Honey's "The Fix"

Samantha Jade previews her new music and explains how she scored a one-of-a-kind Melbourne cup dress.

Samantha Jade shared some details about her upcoming music with "The Fix".

Although Samantha Jade is known and loved first and foremost as a pop star, she took a break from music in 2016 to focus on acting.

The result. A stint on "Home And Away" as bad girl Isla Schultz. Now, with her soap run wrapped, she's ready to return to music and she shared some details about her upcoming music with "The Fix" deputy editor Adam Bub at Melbourne cup day, where she's the "Sensis" social ambassador.

"I've been writing and the new record will be coming out next year", she told us, "It takes a while when you're writing a whole body of work. It takes a while to find what you want to write about, what vibe you want to do. So it's been doing work that is kind of a "finding period", i'm calling it, trying to figure out what vibe i really want to go for."

And what will the new music sound like? =

"I really want to do a fun record", Samantha added, "The last record i did was very heartfelt, very personal, things i was going through. And this time, i just want to do something that's really really fun."

She certainly got her fun season off to a great start at the cup, rocking up to the "Birdcage" in a one-of-a-kind purple dress created especially for Samantha by Melbourne-based designer Jason Grech:

"He goes: "I want to make something" and i'm like: "You've got two days" and he did it", Samantha said, "He just pulled through with the goods. So he made me a fresh dress that no one else is wearing."

06/08/16 - Samantha Jade being interviewed for the website "PerthNow.com.au"

Perth’s Samantha Jade sets sights on London, like Kylie Minogue before her.

Kylie Minogue, Natalie Imbruglia and Sia have all made the move and now it’s Samantha Jade’s turn to take on London.

The Perth-born pop princess is taking up all the western Australia lifestyle she can in preparation for her big move to the UK:

“I just feel like i’ve had so much fun and an incredible time in Australia and have been so lucky”, Jade said while walking along what was her late mother’s favourite beach – Cottesloe, “I don’t want to give up on Australia, I just want to go over there and see how it goes before i’m 30. Before i move on to the next part of my life and maybe settle down and have kids, i want to know that i did everything i could have done.”

The 29-year-old plans on starting her six-month stint before her birthday in april, but said the long trip would not stop her making regular trips back to the family home in Morley.

But Jade said it would be stupid if she didn’t try to follow in the footsteps of Minogue and the other pop stars before her:

“The Kylie thing is a big factor – she did so well in the UK and people obviously compare me to her”, she said, "I actually spoke to Dannii (Minogue) about moving and she was like: "Go for it girl" and so supportive and so nice and has given me some great contacts.”

There are a few things Jade needs to tick off the list before she does make the international trek and along with a string of new music, her role in the upcoming Alan Bond bio series – "House Of Bond" – is due to hit the small screen in the coming months.

Though she plays only a small part, the strong local connection meant it was one she couldn’t turn down:

“Obviously, it was a scandalous time – the life of Alan Bond – but i think it’s portrayed in the right way”, Jade said, "It was really funny because one of the days we shot in Sydney, it was the coldest day they have had in 20 years and it was meant to be Christmas day in Perth. My lips were blue, i was shaking and it was meant to be Christmas in Perth – the hottest day of the year.”

London calling for singer Samantha Jade.

Samantha Jade is giving the UK a crack, with the singer relocating to London for six months next year.

The popular singer will relocate to London for six months next year.

It’s good timing given her recent stint on television soap "Home And Away", which is huge over there:

“I want to commit time to being there”, she said, “I’m going to take the plunge and move there for a little while. I’ll go over and write and record. You need to be in the circles and learn the industry.”

Jade, who’ll perform at "Arq" club on saturday night, recently spent a few weeks in the UK working on new music, which inspired her to make the move. She has been suggested as a good fit to represent Australia at next year’s "Eurovision" song contest, following Guy Sebastian and Dami Im:

“There’s a lot of pressure since Dami and Guy did so well, but i’d love to represent Australia”,
she said.

19/07/16 - Samantha Jade being interviewed for the website "StarObserver.com.au"

Samantha Jade to perform at "Midwinta" ball.

There’s more to being a gay icon than just glitter, sequins and big hair. And it’s a role that Samantha Jade takes seriously.

When the "Firestarter" singer heard about the Orlando shooting tragedy, she made it a priority to organise a series of performances at some Australia’s biggest gay hotspots – including a special fundraiser at Brisbane’s "Fluffy" club and a performance at "Midwinta" ball in Melbourne:

“I was devastated”, Jade tells the "StarObserver.com.au“ website, "It was so sad and intense – it just affects you and you really do start to think about your life, how short it is and how much you need to love and support one another. It really hit quite hard.”

Describing the gay community as some of her biggest supporters, Jade says she feels it is her place to stand up for them on issues like marriage equality and to honour those who lost their lives in the Orlando shooting.

But she is still unsure what it is that makes her so popular with the community.

“I don’t know why”, she says, with a laugh, "I feel like the gay community, for me, the audiences are different – they’re really appreciative of you know, great choreography and how hard you work on stage, and even when you hit a high note. I think there’s a different appreciation there. I’m not sure what it is, but i’m happy to have it.”

The "Midwinta" ball has gone on to become a key event in the LGBTI community over the past two years – with this year’s event promising to be bigger than ever.

All money raised goes to fostering the development of aspiring talent at "Midsumma" festival.

Gretel Killeen will host the event, and a number of other big celebrity names will be hosting tables, including Chrissie Swan.

The "Midwinta" ball is on at the "Crown Palladium" in Melbourne on july 29th 2016. You can book tickets from the "Midwinta" Ball website.

24/06/16 - Samantha Jade being interviewed for the website "Beautycate.com"

SAMANTHA JADE, SINGER.

When Samantha Jade won "The X Factor Australia" in 2012, we were left captivated. She was the complete pop package; pretty, bubbly, gifted and had that bright effervescence australian audiences adore. Today, though, she sings a slightly different tune from her reality talent show days, a successful solo artist, she has also forayed into the world of acting (most recently with a role on "Home And Away"). Despite her famously tiny frame (an uncanny resemblance to Kylie Minogue had her immortalising the pop princess in the lauded INXS television miniseries), she is making a big mark on the entertainment world – proving good things do come in small packages.

Samantha opened the french double doors of her victorian terrace, where we gained a glimpse into the inner workings of her life, and beauty routine. Revelling in the fact she loves makeup (and is quite the maestro with liner in hand), we also learnt of her previous life in LA, and what it was really like to receive a phone call from Kylie herself.

SAMANTHA WEARS DRESS BY "SEED HERITAGE".

“My story is a kind of strange one…

I moved to LA when i was 16 and started over there. I got signed to a label called "Jive Records", who had Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Pink, Chris Brown – everyone you aspired to be as a pop star. I was signed there for four years, made a record, so about five albums and none ever came out – it didn’t work out for me. So that was a tough time and i just needed to come home – I needed a bit of Australia. I needed realness, my mum, my friends – I was extremely homesick. So i moved home to Perth and worked for my dad. He was managing a mining warehouse at the time…"

SHE HAS BEEN DETERMINED TO BE IN CONTROL OF HER FUTURE, PERSONALLY AND PROFESSIONALLY.

"...So i got my steel-cap boots on and my hi-vis [gear] and worked there.
It was extremely different for me, i’m not that girl, i’m the girliest girl you’ll ever meet – I don’t even do sport. But you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do in situations and i couldn’t get a job because all i had on my resume was singing and song writing. I said to my dad after two years: "I just can’t do this anymore." And i wasn’t good at it – I’d count stock and then i’d lose count at 100. That was a crappy time, and i was watching television and "The X Factor Australia" auditions came on. I thought the only thing i haven’t done is go to the public with my music, it’s all been behind the scenes. So I went on the show and went really badly in the first few weeks, I was in the bottom two more than any contestant on the show. I thought, ok Sammy, you’re going back to the mines…and then i won."

SHE WEARS GREEN KNIT BY "MORRISON".

"There was a time i couldn’t even listen to the radio, I hated music – LA killed my soul.
So winning "The X Factor Australia" was a lot for me because i had done so much in the States, i’d worked with all these big producers, i’d written songs for all these big people and to really come back down and just sing – I found love for it again"

ALWAYS ARMED AND READY WITH A KILLER WATT SMILE

"I always get compared to Kylie Minogue, daily…
… it’s so weird, but i’ll happily take it. After i did "The X Factor Australia", i got a call from "Shine" [production company] saying we’re producing this INXS show and we need a Kylie Minogue. I got to the audition and thought: "Oh God. I’m not going to get this… I’ve just won something finally – why am i putting myself in this position again? And then, i got it. Playing someone who you admire and who is loved here was pressure – I thought, i better not stuff this up."

FRIENDS IN HIGH PLACES: KYLIE MINOGUE RECOGNISED SAMANTHA'S TALENT...

"Kylie contacted me afterwards…
…and said: "You did such a good job. You were amazing and i wouldn’t have done anything different." Kylie Minogue was actually on the phone to me. I thought i was being "Punk’d". It was on "Kyle And Jackie O" and i said: "Hello?" and i heard a "Hi Sammy, it’s Kylie” and i was like: "Whaaat?!". I couldn’t believe it."

"Home And Away" was really fun – I was a mess going into that as well. I’m always a mess when i do things that o’m nervous with. I hate red carpets – I had to go to the side once and my friend had to cover my face and neck because i had a stress rash. I had one of those on set for the show too, so i wore a high-neck [top]."

HER BEAUTY BOUNTY: "BECCA BRONZER", A RED LIP AND, OF COURSE, "COCO".

"I love makeup – I just love it.
I worked at "The Makeup" store for about six months and i used to do makeovers on people all the time. So i learnt so much, i was kind of like a makeup artist and did a few a little jobs here and there. I love makeup – I just love it. Everyday, i do all my friends makeup; before dates, i do their makeup, before my shows, i do my dancers’ makeup. A lot of the time, i do my own makeup, too. I’m more of a performance girl, i definitely love a dramatic look – people are way out there, they’ve got to be able to see you. But not for an everyday look."

ANOTHER SMALL-FRAMED IDOL FOR THE SINGER IS KATE MOSS, 'SHE'S TIMELESS, AND THE BOOK IS PERFECT FOR MY COFFEE TABLE''.

"My mum had full freckles and I loved it – but I don’t love them on me.
So everyday I’ll wear a little bit of foundation because I’m not a huge fan of my own – although I do love them on other people. I use a few different foundations, MAC’s always a goodie. Then I’ll always curl my lashes because they’re dead straight, then Diorshow, and then curl again six times. They’re so heavy they just wilt. I always use "MAC Strip Down Lip Liner" and my "Nars Belle De Jour" lipstick everyday."

DEEPLY CLEANSING SKIN ON THE DAILY IS PARAMOUNT WHEN COMBATTING THE DAMAGES OF STAGE MAKEUP.

"I used to really struggle with my skin.
I never had bad moments at school – it was after school. I think it was stress and just life and i really went through some bad times with my skin and i tried everything. My friend Sammy came to Sydney and said she used this one product called "Arbonne", so i use the cleanser. Then i use the "Embryolisse Moisturiser" and it doubles as a great primer – I’m obsessed with it. And that’s all i do. I don’t do toner, or that whole thing because my skin gets really irritated."

"ORIBE" AND "R+CO" TOPS HER HAIR CARE REPERTOIRE

"I recently did a little fake [hair] chop…
… for the "Logies Awards" and everyone thought i’d cut it again. But that’s the genius of Jade who does my hair, she has been doing it since "The X Factor Australia". She does the colour, the styling, the cutting, the wigs – we’ve been working together for four years and she just gets my hair – she speaks to it. They have a connection – her and my hair. I love doing hair – I do my friends hair too."

SAMANTHA WEARS TOP BY "BEC & BRIDGE" AND GOLD EARRINGS BY "RELIQUIA".

"I don’t follow any diets and don’t do any exercise – I’m sorry.
I dance though and i do eat healthy. We do shows once a week, hour sets and we dance the whole set. We come off the stage and we are sweating, i’m singing and dancing, so it’s a lot – that heart rate is up. I eat a good amount of red meat and i love my chicken and i eat small portions. The last week, we haven’t had any chocolate in the house, which has been really good because i’ve gone for an apple instead. But i do i have an extreme sweet tooth – I love sweets."

THE BUDDHA STATUE, ONCE HER MUM'S, REPRESENTS PEACE AND GRATITUDE, SOMETHING HER MUM INSTILLED IN HER

"I love Asian food and i love spice.
I’ve grown up with it my whole life and i need chilli on everything. My dad cooks a lot of indian, he’s a really amazing cook. I love my "Dahl" and chickpeas. My typical day is avocado on toast with cayenne pepper, lunch maybe Pho or chicken with rice and chilli and then night time probably soup or something with rice again."

SHE WEARS DUSTY PINK TOP BY "BEC & BRIDGE".

"My style is quite simple. I stick to very basic colours, but go glam sometimes.
There’s always a little bit of glam to it. I love australian designers, "Bec & Bridge", "Alice McCall" and "Zimmermann". I’ve just recently started wearing those things, a few years ago there was no way i could afford them. You can still find nice things in "Bardot" and "Sportsgirl" – You can make outfits work and then get a good bag and nice pair of shoes."

YOUR NEVER FULLY DRESSED WITHOUT A... "YSL" BAG, OF COURSE.

"The only thing i splurge on designer wise is bags…
i have a bag obsession, so i’ll always pay the money and get a good bag. I had always wanted a designer handbag for as long as i can remember, so i worked really hard and the first thing i bought was a bag. If you have a good bag, your whole outfit looks great.”
