30/11/18 - Samantha Jade on the website "NowToLove.com"

Interview:

"Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" (Judy Garland cover):

The beautiful way singer Samantha Jade honours her late mum at Christmas time.

''It's tough every year.''

Aussie singer Samantha Jade has had an incredible year.

In the space of eleven months, the former "The X Factor Australia" winner has not only released two albums, "Best Of My Love" and "The Magic Of Christmas", but she also modelled for and launched her own lingerie line with "Bras n Things".

And just this week, she helped launch the "It Feels Good To Give" campaign with "Coca-Cola" and "The Salvation Army" for the second year in a row.

So now, with Christmas just around the corner, Sammy is ready for a well earned break and some quality time with her family.

Just before she hopped on stage to perform songs for the launch of the "Coca-Cola" truck in Darling Harbour Sydney, the petite bombshell sat down with "NowToLove.com.au" for an exclusive chat to talk about her Christmas plans.

Being the most wonderful time of the year for many, it's important to remember those we've lost and for Sammy's family it is always particularly poignant as they remember their mum, Jacqui Gibbs, who sadly lost her battle with cancer in 2014:

"We always have a moment", Sammy said, "And i think every big event especially Christmas, is the time of family and love and especially your mum, so it's tough every year and it's something that always is very...it's the big moment of the day realising she's not there", she said.

Jacqui was diagnosed in february 2014, at the same time her daughter made her acting debut playing Kylie Minogue on the Seven miniseries "INXS: Never Tear Us Apart".

And while the 32-year-old and her family have found it incredibly difficult to be without her mum, they try to keep "the tears to a minimum":

"We always take a second", she said and then with a smile added, "And then we can hear mum going: "Enjoy your day, get on with it, enjoy it", so we try and keep it to a minimum."

At the time of her mum's passing, Sammy released a statement to share the news with her fans.

The singer and actress confirmed the sad news of her mum's death via a statement just four months after being diagnosed:

"Our beautiful mother Jacqueline Deans Gibbs passed away peacefully with family by her side", she wrote, "She fought til the very end with the strength and grace by which she lived her life and will be deeply missed. We appreciate your kind words, prayers, and respect for our family during this very difficult time."

Even though Christmas will never be the same, Sammy did say that her family has a routine which most people will find very relatable:

"It's so boring", she said, "We get up, open presents and then we eat all day! There's just food and there's snacks and we just chat and we listen to Christmas carols and sometimes watch Christmas movies and we just have a really really relaxed day. I think the most important thing we can give each other is just time. So that's what we do, we just give each other the whole day to hang out."

Next year, Sammy is looking forward to writing some original music, but is acutely aware of how important it will be to take time for herself:

"I sometimes do struggle with anxiety here and there and i really think that self-care and taking time is important", she said, "And saying, ok, i need a minute, i need an hour and sleeping and drinking water, all those small things because that's the only way you can do those big things."

"It Feels Good to Give" campaign

"Coca-Cola" has joined forces with "The Salvation Army" on its "It Feels Good To Give" Christmas Truck Tour" of Australia.

In a World-first, the truck tour will feature a nationwide "Secret Santa". One of the biggest gift exchanges ever seen in Australia, it will see a truckload of presents travel more than 10 000km on a tour that embraces the spirit of giving at Christmas.

29/11/18 - Samantha Jade being interviewed on 9Honey's "Celebrity"

How Samantha Jade is saying thank you to the nurses who helped her late mother.

Singer-songwriter Samantha Jade is paying tribute to the nurses who helped her late mum.

Jacqui Gibbs tragically died at the age of 51 in june 2014, six months after being diagnosed with cancer.

Four years on, Jade, 31, wants to thank the staff at "Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital" in Perth for taking care of her mother.

As part of "The Salvation Army" and "Coca-Cola's "It Feels Good To Give" campaign, the "Best Of My Love" singer is kicking off their nationwide "Secret Santa" by making sure the nurses feel special this Christmas:

"I just want them to be spoiled because they always are taking care of everybody else", Jade tells 9Honey's "Celebrity". So, we're going to give them a day like a spa. A pamper day, where they can be looked after for once. When my mum was unwell in hospital and she was going through such a hard time in her life - stage 4 cancer - she would call me and ask me to get presents for the nurses. It was a six-month period", the "Home And Away" star recalls, "It happened so fast. And those nurses were angels. They really were. The doctors, obviously, they do an incredible job. But, the nurses are just angels on earth. The way they know how to handle emotions and obviously, get the job done as well, is just amazing to watch."

Jade has always loved spending Christmas with her parents and her brothers, but she says it's bittersweet these days.

Her family continue to celebrate the holiday in the same house she grew up in:

"We've got the same Christmas tree, that we had for years and certain decorations i remember putting up with my mum when i was a little girl", says the singer, "Christmas is one of those big events that's just  never the same [after losing a loved one] and it's kind of bittersweet in a way. So, we go through a bit of a moment. But, then i know she would be going: "Okay. Stop thinking about me now. Have a good Christmas", you know? So, we try and turn it around quickly and just enjoy it together."

Exclusive: "My brother was the best gift in the world": Samantha Jade reveals why Christmas will always hold a special place in her heart

She's the beloved Australian singer, who is committed to charity work.

And Samantha Jade has revealed why Christmas is her favourite holiday season.

Speaking to "DailyMail.co.uk" on tuesday, the 31-year-old said the festive season holds a special place for her because it marks the time around when her younger brother was born:

'I was an only child until i was seven [when] my brother was born and i remember that Christmas was so special cause he was born in november so it was like i had a baby brother for Christmas", she said, "It was very special to me. I thought he was the best gift in the World", she added, "I just love the Christmas feel, the spirit, it's such a good time of the year."

Having released her new holiday-themed album this month, "The Magic Of Christmas", Samantha explained the inspiration behind her festive tunes:

"I've always wanted to do a Christmas record and it just felt right. I wanted to choose songs that really meant something to me - Elvis Presley was a big hit in our household, so i put "Blue Christmas" there for my dad", she revealed, "Amazing Grace" is one of the first songs i ever learned and i put that on for my grandparents. So just things that are nostalgic and close to my heart."

The blonde beauty will be returning to Perth to spend special time with family over Christmas, but is unsure of her 2019 new years day plans just yet:

"I actually haven't even thought about new year's yet! I'll do something fun and something laid back", the songstress stated, adding that her resolution is to put aside more time for herself and family, "Sometimes, i get so carried away obviously with the year. I think it's really important to take time with your family and yourself."

On tuesday, Samantha dropped jaws while storming the stage for the launch of the "Coca-Cola Salvation Army "It Feels Good To Give" Christmas Truck Tour".

Clad in a red "Coca-Cola" themed shirt and ripped denim jeans, the "ARIA Music Award"-winning singer was all smiles as she posed beside a glimmering tree.

To complete the festive look, the stunner styled her hair in smooth waves, wore a glamorous makeup look and donned a pair of sky-high pumps.

She later changed into a striking pattern dress that featured an abstract print, balloon sleeves and pocket detailing.

Speaking about her charity work, Samantha said:

"Not many people get to say they do what they love as a job. I know how lucky i am to be able to say that so it's very important to me to give back. Charity work is so fulfilling it's also there to do. If we can use our voices for a good cause, then why not?", she added, "That's why i really wanted to come on board with this "Coca-Cola" and "Salvos" initiative because "Secret Santa" is one of the most exciting things and this one is really going around the country giving, so it's pretty amazing."

Samantha Jade visits Penrhos college for "Salvos" Christmas appeal.

Budding songwriters from Penrhos college were treated to a visit from "The X Factor Australia" winner Samantha Jade as part of her visit to western Australia for "The Salvation Army" Christmas appeal.

Samantha Jade performed three songs in front of Penrhos college students at their courtyard, followed by a visit to the year 9 music class yesterday morning.

Jade said Penrhos college was the only school involved in her visit to western Australia as part of the "Salvos" Christmas appeal this year:

“They do a lot of work with the "Red Shield" and with "Salvos" and i just wanted to give back and have a little sing with them”, she said, “I think it’s great, especially for young girls, it’s very important to learn that giving is just as important, if not more, than anything else in life.”

Music teacher Catherine Clarnette said it was fantastic for the girls to hear advice from a professional singer songwriter in the midst of their current project:

“The year 9's have just been doing a hands-on industry project where they write and record their own original songs and we thought it would be perfect for them to see Samantha Jade”, she said, “For her to talk on what she’s doing and what music meant to her was very meaningful for them.”

Ms Clarnette said it was a special event for the Year 9 music students as Jade spoke just to them as a class:

“They appreciate having that special appearance, guest speakers usually speak to a larger audience”, she said.

Jade said she asked to be involved in the Christmas appeal again and to visit Perth, her hometown for this tour:

“Last year, i was involved in the Christmas appeal, this is my second year as ambassador for the Salvos”, she said, “I want people to know it’s so easy to help, so easy to give.”

05/11/18 - Samantha Jade being interviewed for the website "Others.org.au"

Samantha Jade Christmas song inspired by "Salvos".

"Salvationists" have teamed up with singer-songwriter Samantha Jade to record a bonus track on her new Christmas album, "The Magic Of Christmas".

The song, "This Candle Time Of Year" was inspired by the work of the "Salvos". With lyrics such as: "Hope begins when fear fades, it brings a new day...Let the candle burn bright, light the flame and share the light; the song is a beautiful Christmas anthem and testament to the work of "The Salvation Army", especially at Christmas:

“[This Candle Time Of Year] has that sentiment of "hope" and looking forward to things”, Samantha told "The Salvation Army", “Hope is one of those words that i think runs so deep with people. For me, personally, i know when my mum was unwell, when she was sick with cancer, i mean, it’s all we lived on: Hope. That word means so much to me because it truly is a reason to live, to have hope.”

Menai "Salvation Army" youth pastor, Tristan Bray, was one of those in "The Salvation Army" choir who provided backing vocals to the song. He says it was a beautiful experience:

“Samantha Jade is a phenomenal vocalist and a really nice person”, he said, “She came in and we chatted through the heart behind the song and the spirit of Christmas. The song, if you can describe it in one word, it’s "hope". It’s all about the hope that is brought by Christmas joy.”

Seeing the work of "The Salvation Army" has inspired Samantha to volunteer for the organisation and help spread joy across the country during the festive season. At the end of november, she will travel to her home state of western Australia with the "Salvos" to tour and give her time at a number of "Salvation Army" services, bringing hope to people in need:

“I feel extremely proud to be affiliated with "The Salvation Army" for another year as their Christmas ambassador. The work that they do for families in need throughout the year and especially during the festive season is remarkable and extremely moving. The spirit of Christmas should be shared with all and i’m so pleased to help the Salvos achieve this.”

For Tristan, Christmas is a wonderful opportunity to immerse people in the reality of Jesus, his love, his hope and his joy:

“There’s 11 months of the year when some people do it quite tough, physically, emotionally, mentally and physically, but Christmas is that one time of year where our society is almost, in a way, forced to love each other”, he said, “It’s called the season of joy and for me personally, that song really speaks into and encourages that spirit of togetherness, love and hope and joy. It’s a great song.”

"The Magic Of Christmas" can be found on iTunes and Spotify.
