Samantha Jade in running for a "Logie Award" for role as Kylie Minogue in INXS telemovie

The first day on the set of Seven's miniseries "INXS: Never Tear Us Apart", Samantha Jade wore a high neck shirt and scarf to hide a stress rash.

This was only the singer / songwriter's second professional acting role, and she was playing Australia's sweetheart, Kylie Minogue.

The short-lived romance between Minogue and Hutchence brought Minogue rock star credibility. While dating, Hutchence was famously quoted as saying his favourite hobby was "corrupting Kylie". The pressure on Jade couldn't have been greater:

"I was beyond nervous", says Jade, "I always have stress rashes, it's the story of my life. I get red blotches on my chest.

Jade, who shares a physical resemblance to Minogue, was conscious it was a role she couldn't "make up as i go" - the woman she was inhabiting on screen was an icon of australian music and would probably judge her performance. As it was, Minogue tweeted Jade her blessing.

The first scene to be filmed was a raunchy tete-a-tete on the kitchen bench:

"It was only the second time i'd met Luke [Arnold], so i was like: "Hi, i'm Sammi, let's make out and get on the kitchen bench together", recounts Jade, "That's when you realise it's acting, it's all choreographed and there are 20 people around the room watching you."

Jade was "discovered" on "The X Factor Australia" in 2012 and is about to put out a new single, with an album to follow.

She has been nominated for a "Logie Award" in the category of "Most Popular New Talent", alongside actors Miranda Tapsell, Harriet Dyer, Laura Brent and Olympia Valance. Luke Arnold, who plays Michael Hutchence in the miniseries, is also in the running for two "Logie Awards" - "Most Popular Actor" and "Most Outstanding Actor":

"Luke gave me little pointers, he's an incredible actor, he's been doing this his whole life, so he gave me a lot of advice and he put me at ease in the scene. He said: "It's you and me, it's you and me". Once you get into it, you are in it."

Jade's mother Jacqueline was terminally ill with cancer when the miniseries screened last year, and Jade has watched it since with her father Kevin:

"I'm a musician first, but i have such great respect for acting. I've got the bug."

Brother TJ will accompany Jade to the "Logie Awards" ceremony on Sunday. She doesn't expect to win and has no acceptance speech prepared:

"It's just enough to be able to put "Logie Award" nominee after my name."
