Within 2 days of release, "The X Factor Australia" season 4 winner Samantha Jade debuted at #1 on the ARIA singles chart with her winning single "What You've Done To Me" and also got certified gold, with sales of over 35 000.
She also achieves the 100th No.1 debut in Australia since Midnight Oil first did it back on the first week of december 1985 (almost 27 years ago to the week) with their “Species Deceases” EP.
Plus, she is the 20th australian reality singing show contestant of this decade to land a #1 single and it’s the 28th such track to do so.
“What You’ve Done to Me” is the 996th #1 single in Australia (1940 to 2012) and the 434th for ARIA (1983 to 2012).
It’s the 19th #1 for Sony Music Australia and she becomes the 18th australian solo female singer to hit the top since Olivia Newton-John first did it back in 1971.
She is also the 97th australian act to top the chart and “What You’ve Done to Me” is the 152nd song by a local to hit number one.
She first hit the australian charts back in february of 2007 with a #50 digital chart only single “Step Up” , from the first film in the dance series, but her first ARIA Top 100 entry was later that year in september when she made #83 with “Turn Around”, the track returning this week to a new peak of #53.
This year as a part of "The X Factor Australia" series, she has charted with “Heartless” (Highest peak: #12 / This week: #29), “Where Have You Been” (Highest peak: #51 / Out this week) and “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill you)” (Highest peak: #96 / Out this week).
Her self titled debut album is out on december 07th 2012.
