Samantha Jade to sing at Strathfield spring fair and her dad will be there too.

Samantha Jade is singing at Strathfield spring fair and her most adoring fan — her dad — will be there to see her perform on stage.

Samantha Jade believes it was her dad who helped her through the darkest times after the death of her mum last year.

The pop star will spend father’s day with her dad Kevin Gibbs at the Strathfield spring festival when she headlines the event this sunday:

“I’m very close to my dad. I’m flying him over and he’ll be coming to the fair”, Jade said, “Father’s day means everything now especially since i only have Dad left. He’s the best man in the world and i owe everything to him.”

Jade’s mum Jacqueline died last june after a short battle with an aggressive form of cancer.

"The X Factor Australia" winner put her performing career on hold for months to help care for her ill mother with her brothers Alex and Thomas:

“I’ve always been equally close to my dad and my mum and now the whole family is closer than ever”, she said.

Jade worked at her father’s factory in Perth for awhile after a few false starts in her attempt to break into the music industry:

“I’ve always been a daddy’s girl, but that was probably when we become super close. He’s definitely my biggest fan”, she said, “I just love his optimism. He’s always looking on the brighter side of things and it’s amazing having someone so positive around you. It helps me to be that way. “Everything i know i learnt from my parents, like to be optimistic and positive even in the darkest times”, Jade said.

The 28-year-old will perform on the main stage of the festival at 12.55pm and will sing her new her new single “Shake That” that features american rapper Pitbull.

Another single is due out this month, with a full album expected to be released in october.

While she is focusing on her singing career Jade said she’s also keen to do more acting, after playing Kylie Minogue in the miniseries "INXS: Never Tear Us Apart":

“I’ve been thinking about it and reading scripts, but it has to be the right role”, she said, “I’d love to do comedy, that would be a big challenge for me.”
