Samantha Jade joins the cast of Seven's "Home And Away"

Pop sensation Samantha Jade is moving to Summer Bay.

First Ed Sheeran made his mark and now Samantha Jade is the latest singing sensation to star in one of Australia’s favourite soapies "Home And Away".

The former "The X Factor Australia" winner revealed the exciting news to the "DailyTelegraph.com.au".

“I’m always asked when i will do more acting and now i am saying yes, i am coming to the Bay,” she confirmed.

Samantha has already dipped her toes into the acting world, starring in Seven’s bio-telemovie, "INXS: Never Tear Us Apart", in 2014 playing Kylie Minogue. But the 28-year-old has admitted her move to the Bay will shed her “good-girl” image with a daring new character:

“It is really exciting. I’ve wanted to do more acting and i wanted to do something unexpected and different and this is very very different to Kylie (Minogue). I can’t say too much, but i can say she comes to the Bay with bad intentions. She has a bit of a past and she falls for one of the favourite boys on the show,” she added.

The pint-sized pop star did admit that learning lines would be a breeze, especially since she had to learn a new song every week during her time on the talent reality show.

Guy Sebastian’s "The X Factor Australia" protégée did hint that we might see her bikini bod hit the beach for the soap:

“Maybe. It is always a bit nerve-wracking for a girl (being filmed in swimwear), but if they shoot it right", before laughing, “I’d like them to make me look a bit taller.”

While Samantha is sworn to secrecy, we do know that the songstress will play the character of Isla and her scenes will air early next year.

The 2012-winner of "The X Factor Australia" has had a difficult 12 months after losing her mum Jacqui Gibbs to cancer back in june last year.

After a brief hiatus, Sam is back with a new album, which will be released in october.

“There’s lots going on at the moment, which is really exciting”, Sam smiled about all her new ventures.

We couldn’t be happier for the singer.

02/09/15 - Samantha Jade being interviewed for the website "DailyTelegraph.com.au"

Samantha Jade to sing at Strathfield spring fair and her dad will be there too.

Samantha Jade is singing at Strathfield spring fair and her most adoring fan — her dad — will be there to see her perform on stage.

Samantha Jade believes it was her dad who helped her through the darkest times after the death of her mum last year.

The pop star will spend father’s day with her dad Kevin Gibbs at the Strathfield spring festival when she headlines the event this sunday:

“I’m very close to my dad. I’m flying him over and he’ll be coming to the fair”, Jade said, “Father’s day means everything now especially since i only have Dad left. He’s the best man in the world and i owe everything to him.”

Jade’s mum Jacqueline died last june after a short battle with an aggressive form of cancer.

"The X Factor Australia" winner put her performing career on hold for months to help care for her ill mother with her brothers Alex and Thomas:

“I’ve always been equally close to my dad and my mum and now the whole family is closer than ever”, she said.

Jade worked at her father’s factory in Perth for awhile after a few false starts in her attempt to break into the music industry:

“I’ve always been a daddy’s girl, but that was probably when we become super close. He’s definitely my biggest fan”, she said, “I just love his optimism. He’s always looking on the brighter side of things and it’s amazing having someone so positive around you. It helps me to be that way. “Everything i know i learnt from my parents, like to be optimistic and positive even in the darkest times”, Jade said.

The 28-year-old will perform on the main stage of the festival at 12.55pm and will sing her new her new single “Shake That” that features american rapper Pitbull.

Another single is due out this month, with a full album expected to be released in october.

While she is focusing on her singing career Jade said she’s also keen to do more acting, after playing Kylie Minogue in the miniseries "INXS: Never Tear Us Apart":

“I’ve been thinking about it and reading scripts, but it has to be the right role”, she said, “I’d love to do comedy, that would be a big challenge for me.”
