Samantha Jade has a little piece of home with her wherever she is.

The Morley-raised pop starlet, who rose to prominence on "The X Factor Australia" three years ago, has employed her younger brother TJ as her personal assistant as she builds up momentum for the release of her new album in october.

Home in western Australia this week to promote her latest single, "Shake That", Jade told "TheWest.com.au" she was happy to have the 20-year-old shadowing her every move because they don’t get sick of one another:

“He knows me — he knows i need a coffee before i do”, the Sydney-based star laughed.

“We are very close and we have a lot of mutual respect for one another. When it’s work, it’s work. But at the end of the day, we will hang out and go to a movie together. Every brother and sister have their moments but i really trust him. It’s hard to have someone be your PA — they have to be around you 24/7, they have your cards, your information and i won’t trust anyone other than my family with that.”

Jade, 28, added that both TJ and her youngest brother Alex, 18, were singers, but she didn’t want to push them into the industry until they were ready:

Home in Perth for the first time in “ages”, the songbird said she spent the weekend soaking up time with her tight-knit family.

“It’s been a really good few days — everyone from my family and friends came over on sunday and then i took my grandfather to see the "Dirty Dancing" the musical”, she said.

Back at work, Jade’s latest mission has been to encourage other young women to support rather than hate each other, with her new single Shake That acting as an ode to girl power.

She said she had experienced nasty criticism on social media, particularly around outfits she had worn to major events, but all she could do was brush it off.

“To be honest, i have stopped caring about it, i have started just reading the good comments”, Jade said.

“Obviously, there are things that do affect you — if they say something about my family then i get angry. But everyone has an opinion and you just have to deal with it, or you will be the most insecure person in the world.”
