Former "The X Factor Australia" contestant Samantha Jade reveals new single was inspired by love split
"The X Factor Australia" survivor Samantha Jade hopes to win hearts with her new single about how her own was broken and talks about being Kylie Minogue for an INXS biopic.
Have a broken heart? Write a pop hit.
When Samantha Jade returned to the studio after her seven year relationship with swedish music producer Christian Nilsson ended this year, she channelled her heartbreak into new single "Soldier".
The 26 year old siren, who teamed with her hit maker mates DNA on the song, said she trusted them to help her realise the revealing track which is released tomorrow.
Nilsson and Jade broke up because of the strains of maintaining the long-distance relationship they started when she was a teenager pursuing her big musical break the first time around:
"I was in the middle of getting through (the break-up) and i'm still not over it," she said, "I was so sad and i wish someone had fought harder for me. I wish it had been "The Notebook", we built a house and waited 10 years for each other. So when the (DNA) boys asked me what i wanted to write about, i told them how i was feeling and we turned that into lyrics."
Jade is putting the finishing touches to her second album which should be ready just in time for the broadcast of Seven's "INXS: Never Tear Us Apart" mini-series in February.
The singer has been compared with Kylie Minogue for most of her life and even her hand gestures and other mannerisms are reminiscent of Michael Hutchence's former girlfriend.
Dannii Minogue has already given her the thumbs-up, referring to Jade as the "third Minogue sister" while Kylie tweeted: "I hope you have fun playing 90s Kylie".
Jade saw herself as the australian superstar for the first time on screen on tuesday night when the promo aired:
"It really is like looking at another person," she said.
Her first day on set was confronting:
"My first scene was the most raunchy one and i had only met Luke Arnold (who plays Hutchence) once before that" she said, "And i'm so not that raunchy girl, i'm such a square.
Luke made me feel so comfortable and got us into character.
It is weird I was playing her at a time of her life when everything changed and i was going through a transformation with the break-up, getting my own apartment and car, growing up."
