A federal judge dismissed a lawsuit brought by a Los Angeles-based music company against the producer of "The X Factor Australia" and performer Samantha Jade over Jade’s fourth season win on the popular television talent show. On behalf of "FremantleMedia Australia" ("FMA"), "Glaser Weil" successfully argued that the U.S. district court in Los Angeles, where the suit was filed, was not the proper forum for the dispute.
In a 24-page ruling, judge Beverly Reid O’Connell dismissed the suit against "FremantleMedia Australia", finding that the federal court had no jurisdiction over "FremantleMedia Australia" and that the proper forum was in the australian courts.
"Camp West Recorders" filed the lawsuit in june, claiming "FremantleMedia Australia" and the other defendants interfered with recording and management contracts it had with Jade based upon her involvement on "The X Factor Australia".
"Glaser Weil" partner Sean Riley represents "FremantleMedia Australia", with assistance from associates Gali Grant and Christopher Dacus.
