"My Healthy Habits": Samantha Jade's tricks to practicing mindfulness and gratitude are so easy to do.

She also shares her hacks to glowy skin and her go-to midweek meals.

Samantha Jade is an entertaining triple threat: singer, songwriter and actress. The artist tells "Body+Soul" how she stays both physically and mentally well, dishes on her new year's resolution and what beauty supplements she swears by for full hair and radiant skin.

In our editorial series "My Healthy Habits", we chat to inspiring individuals about their health and wellness routines, where they share everything from their fitness routines to their beauty go-to's and midweek meals. Jennifer Hawkins' shares how her life has changed since becoming a new mum, Bec Judd swears by 'magic' supplements, and Michelle Bridges turns to a five minute workout to get through the 3pm slump.

When Samantha Jade isn't singing, song writing or acting (her new single "Back To Back" comes out October 23), she's practicing mindfulness, being grateful and looking after her health and wellbeing. Here, she shares with "Body+Soul" how she balances midweek meals, gets through the 3pm slump and her go-tos for getting through a hectic week.

Outline your morning ritual for us.

I always start my day with a ritual my mum taught me. When i place my two feet on the ground i say "thank you", i think starting the day with gratitude is extremely important. I then shower, put my workout gear on and take Banksy (My puppy) for a walk while grabbing a coffee and then back to the house to work out.

Outline your night ritual for us.

I have a diffuser in my room so i add lavender oil to that and turn it on so that when i get into bed my room smells lovely and relaxing. I pour myself a sleep tea. I cleanse, tone and moisturise my face and then i get into my bed, read a few pages from my book or watch a bit of a show and sleep.

First thing you do when you wake up?

Check my phone.

Last thing you do before you go to sleep?

Say a prayer.

Talk to us through your supplement intake.

I take "JS Health" vitamins for my hair and i've been taking "Beauty Boosters Glow Getter". I add "The Beauty Chef Hydration Inner Beauty Boost" to my water too.

What is your weeknight dinner philosophy - what's a normal meal look like?

I try not to have heavy carbs past 5pm so usually steak, chicken or tuna with roast vegetables or a curry with cauliflower rice. Although i do enjoy a "taco tuesday" or a cheeky homemade lasagna here and there, but i mostly keep it simple and healthy during the week and then allow myself to indulge on the weekends.

What health / body treatment is a regular for you and why?

I love getting massages, i have a bad neck so it releases that for me and also just to feel relaxed.

Do you practice mindfulness? How?

Absolutely. I have a folder of quotes on my phone that i refer to often that really helps me stay present and calm.

Do you practice meditation?

No. I need to though - that may be my new year's resolution.

What's your approach to more alternative forms of beauty and wellness practises?

I am open to trying any of the alternative practices and am all for whatever works for you. My mum burnt sage in every new home we ever lived in and my brothers and i do that to this day. She also loved crystals so i have a few of them that i feel connected to.

What do you do to help your body recover after a workout/hectic week?

I am all about baths. I absolutely love them, i load them up with epsom salts, lavender oil and rose petals and set aside at least 30 minutes to soak.

Talk us through your fitness approach.

I have been lucky to work with a few wonderful trainers in my time and so i have learnt a lot about what works for my body. I like to mix my workouts up depending on how i’m feeling that day. A mix of cardio, strength training and pilates and some days i'll just take Banksy for a long walk. I try to make sure i'm moving my body every day.

Do you regularly listen to/like any wellness podcasts? If so, which ones?

I listen to Oprah's "Super Soul Sunday" and anything Eckhart Tolle. They really seem to help my mental health.

What's your trick to making it through the 3pm slump?

Ah it's the worst isn't it! I try to make sure i am doing something at that time so my mind is active. I also usually have a little snack or protein bar around then too.

An average sunday night looks like.

Sitting on the couch with a tea watching Netflix.

Who do you look up to in the wellness / mindfulness / fitness / health / beauty world and why?

I love Rachael Finch, she is so lovely and makes fitness and health seem achievable and fun she also isn't preachy at all. She's just genuine and lovely.

What will be your 2021 health or wellness resolution?

I'm going to learn to meditate. I have always wanted to make that a daily ritual and i know it really works well for a lot of my friends so that is my goal.
